'Enclosing Some Snapshots'
James Brady's photographs at the The Glenbow Museum
In fall, 2020 I have the honour of curating the first professional exhibition of Metis activist James Brady's photographs at the The Glenbow Museum in Calgary. A lot has been written about Brady's Metis political activism but not much on his photography and that he carried a camera on his many travels across Alberta and Saskatchewan. There are hundreds of photos to chose from, archived at The Glenbow, and it is my hope this first time exhibition will be both an artistic and historical reveal of Metis life and resistance over decades as well as an aesthetic pleasure.
